I thought the RA Extra was awful too. Didn't smoke a Duke last year so can't comment ... but for disappointment and a turn for the worst mine was the Upmann Mag 48, which is sad because previously I had rated these a fabulous cigar.
But that said, the AF Serie JJ Small Robusto and Upmann Half Coronas smoked last year I consider to be total crap and only fit for compost.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Without wanting to sound daft, the most enjoyable and memorable stick I had this year was an Esplendidos from 2011 bought from LCDH in Varedero-I know people say they're overpriced, overrated and all the rest but the one I had was fantastic and a cut above pretty much everything else! I've not got the most experienced palate and I struggle to pick out more than the usual spice/honey/wood/ etc but this was a cracker, it just seemed so much more refined, smooth and delicate.
Interesting rport Tom. I think the Esplen' got a bad rep because of the market was flooded with fakes & secondly they were the most expensive stick. Well no longer! Plently dearer now but are they better? A personal view but I have had some excellent older ones & there are real gems & I would reommend them to any who haven't tried them recently. I the last Esplen I had was 2yrs ago in Cuba, on our first night. I hadn't expected to smoke as it was our 20th Wedding Anniversay hol & we'd been up for 24hrs by the end of the meal. But then I wa offered the humi & they had Esplen's or Monte No4's. This wasn't a night for an avge smoke! So with the wife's blessing I had the esplen, which of course kept us up another 1 1/2hrs but it was firstly a genuine stick & secondly a moment of bliss. After many yrs of dreaming we really were in Cuba now!

For me it was the El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme. Being a PC smoker an not into larger cigars it's quite odd. However the Choix supreme is light enough that I can smoke a Robusto every now and then without levitating off the sofa and flying out of the window!
I bought a box of 25 around 2 years ago and there is only one left now. They were all consistent with great burn.
