  • Puck RH Beads Odour

Just wanted to pose a quick question on the Puck RH Beads, which I bought six months or so ago from C.Gars (http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/puck-beads...5g-p-9831.html)

They have been working perfectly since I got them but I added some more distilled water to them as they were drying out, but now they seems to have taken on an odour I haven't noticed before, but I genuinely have no idea how as I just added the water and I can't see how it would have been contaminated by anything. I also have another lot for my other humidor that I 'recharged' today and they don't have the problem

Is this normal? Has anyone else experience this?

could you (as difficult as it is) describe the odour?
pretend you're reviewing a cigar and replace notes of "cedar, spice, oregano" with notes of "five-day old havarti, 3-day old Ron Jeremy, and Surstromming." pretend you're reviewing the beads!

Did you wrap them in a pair of tights? Was the gussett well washed first?

I was going to try to in the post but found it too difficult! It reminds me of alcohol (spirit rather than beer), its quite sweet, but the only alcohol we have in the house at the moment is a bottle of scotch, which was in a shelf in a different room at the time. The odour is going down over time, but obviously am worried about keep in there with my cigars, even the boxes

hmmmmmmmmmmmm... let's wait for a more experienced opinion on this. i only have one humidor humidified with beads so i'm not too familiar with them.

tried contacting C.Gars themselves? they're pretty good with feedback, and they've been round this track a couple of times

Sounds very peculiar indeed, does the water have any odour at all? sorry it can't be of more help.

No - its completely distilled and odourless

The only thing I can think of is that I exposed it to something and forgot about it, I'll just play it safe and pick up some more this week

On a side not I bought one of the puckifiers a while ago and I've not been overly impressed with it. Had to "recharge" it ever other week or so
