I would take them out of the vacuum packing also, just for aesthetic reasons really

Personally I would get it off to look at the cigars. The film is meant as a transport aid, but it doesn't always work out, if the cigars were even slightly over-moisturised at sealing stage mould may already be forming .... and you really should look if only to check they're all there.

^ this. A very efficient method of condensation and precipitating solutes in my labs is to immediate change the temperature.

Also, the fact that cigars release gases as they age. Minute amounts but still noticeable.

I believe there is a risk of condensation if you suffer significant temp swings. It also depends on the gas inside (a full vacuum would crush the cigars so there is some gas of some sort in there). BTW This is a huge subject with much detailed debate, scince and pseudo science but short answer is 'they should be fine'

...but if they are shot / past their sell-by date you will only find out when you open them.

Yep, so long at the integrity of the material holds... Any transfer will be negligible to the point of being inconsequential.

Some air transfer will take place but it should be negligible even over years and years..... Perhaps decades. I would still just keep it in the same humi anyway if for no other reason that it keeps all of your cigars in one place.

That was what I was thinking, humidified or not?

I'd imagine pretty much indefinitely until damage comes to the film?

    started a topic Vacuum sealed

    Vacuum sealed

Cuban cigars tend to come in boxes with paper seals but the last NC boxes I bought were vacuum sealed in durable film so my question is how long will they stay in good condition still sealed up?
Working...
