  • The Tubo debate continues

I was just reading the world of the habano book on the h & f site, Ok i was looking at the pictures I still haven't learnt to read , any way it says to remove the cigars when putting in to a humi.

    thoughts and opinions please.

Nope I keep them in the tubes. What's the point of buying tubed cigars just to take them out when they keep the cigars fresh and protected.

I have to admit I'm convinced by the logic of keeping them in.

I (and I believe Simon will back me up on this) will say that RyJ Churchills improve greatly with the cedared environment around them.
So do the Bolivar RC and #2. Especially the number 2!!

Only thing is they're much more expensive. But once you get a box, just reuse old tubes from new dress boxes.
It's something 2 of my mates do for their Bolivar Petit Coronas for 1 year min.
So that has yet to fail any of us!

I have some tubed RyJ Churchills sitting in the bottom of my humi and from time to time I unscrew the caps and check them over and the smell of them is divine

I have only ever had a couple of tubos and found my humidity dropped greatly when they were in my humi

Strange, not sure what was going on there?

Keep them in the tubes, just like the cigar merchants do,sometimes for yrs. Do a search, this has been much debated in the past.

I keep them in the tubes Simon, I have read the previous threads some of which were started by me, what I am trying to find out is, why habanos would say to remove them?

IMHO, I suspect it’s the industry trying to sell humidors and enhance the visual appearance of cigars. Moreover, they now don’t produce tubes with airtight cap seals, ie, thick cork foil backed inner caps which did keep cigars in a good condition for many years. I recently smoked a Boli tubos No 2, which was approx 50 years old, which almost certainly had never been opened, that was in excellent condition

Sorry Mo,understand what you mean now & it is strange, after all Habanos have frst persuaded you to spend more to buy the Tubos to start with; Moondancer's answer sounds as feasible as any.

I've left mine in the tube but taken the lids off. There is nothing to stabilise the rH in the tube as temp and pressure changes.
