Cigars for investing ?

I shall put something up on both counts by Saturday. (Also part way through a book of letters which all on UKCF will get early access to too... First letter we to the UKIP head of policy whom I met at JJF before xmas

I rarely sell any of my cigars and if I do its to help the person looking for them. I prefer to trade intact box boxes unless its me who is looking then I want to pay money.

Over the last year I have given up lots of great boxes 1966,BHK52,520's cause some one local was SOL on grabbing most of it when they could or should of. I have been very fortunate to have my ISO thread answered by stand up BOTL so I figure I can give back...


As an investment... sure, I suppose once I am long gone someone will sell my stash and make a small fortune, well pass the amount I have put into it. Funny and sad how it could all take a moment and poof.. all liquidated your whole life passion summed up into a dollar sign.

Agree with you there Reason, the few I have sold I have usually regreted. I have told my daughter she will inherit my stash. I have a complete list of the contents, with approx value & I have told her she should try to sell on here first. If sold with care over a period of time I think she she could do very well if I should pass suddenly. If I manage an avge lifespan,then hopefully I'll have smoked most of them down to a small mix of singles. To achieve this 'ideal goal' some point I'll have to at stop buying new stock. Probably the weakest point of the plan, still once I finally retire, I doubt I'd be able to afford to buy any further cigars.

we've a few mates here who've retired and took on some part time jobs netting a few hundred every two weeks just to get some nice boxes of Siglo IIs every month or so.

Where I am now Si. But the weakest part of the plan has made itself clearly apparent .... too many 'big' cigars that I'm unlikely to get time, occasion or the weather to smoke. I'll probably end up smoking all my under Coronas Gorda and having to cut everything else in half!

Part of this great hobby to me is buying, I already know I will never smoke what I have I just hope I will be able to open boxes I have not enjoyed to the fullest because I was only able to get a full box and a couple singles(to see who they are doing) Sounds like you have a good plan thought I should probably catalogue and price to... but some stuff I'm not sure I could put a $$ on it. I suppose those are the ones I will just have to smoke.

Thins thread is starting to reinforce my gut feeling to buy what I'm smoking and leave it at that. Sadly that would mean not many boxes and a relatively short rotation of sticks.
