I've seen round electric ones that would look real flashy if your humidor has space for a round one, it would be perfect. But size is a problem. How's it holding up now?

Humidity if fine but the little meter on the front is still wrong. I need to find a new one to fit the hole.

Yeah pull it out and take some measurements. C.Gars have lots of sizes for different humis and have the measurements of them on the site

It's not staying at 80. But some felt a little crispy so the idea was to run up the humidity for a bit then let it settle back to 65. No harm if done slowly.

Yeah no harm as long as you watch out for mold and you may be surprised how long it needs to sit at 65 for your cigars to get down to that level at start tasting they way you want.

If you let it sit at 65, then it will work too. This is like turning up a thermostat to max to "heat a room up quicker" then turn the heating off once it is too hot (a pet hate of mine). You'll get a moist (possibly moldy) rapper and then a drier inside. Just get the humi to 65 and then leave it.

It's been at 65 for years but some of the oldest were feeling dry. Strange but there you go...

But if your hygrometer was stuck were they?

I think they were... The hydro stuck at 50.. Having been 65 for ages. I thought that meant the cigars were at 50 too but the meter seems to have failed and the Cigars were probably always at 65. The meter I have put in there now says bang on 80 although the one on the front still says 50. My guess is the humidity has always been more or less ok but the meter has failed. I have a set of 65 bov's going in ( the 80's will get sealed in a airtight box and used for the worst of the dry cigars). Hopefully panic is over.
