OK, a bit weird but mine's the same day.

I now know of 8 people with the same birthday?!

I'll be doing the same thing, thinking of going for aged quality rather than Behikes or anything else young & expensive.

If you want a treat then a BHK52 or Cohiba Siglo VI would be my choice.

Heard and read that they can both be a bit of a gamble

I'd say you were safe with both. remember these smokes are a handmade product. Sometimes they don't always come up to scratch.

I'd personally go for a VI as it is my favorite cuban. If you are worried then other options would be a H Upman No2 (lovely smokes especially with some age) Or a Trinidad Funnadore - these are really lovely smokes and worth trying.

I like the look of the Partagas Serie du Connoisseur No.3 & the Por Larranaga Regalias de Londres.

Both come in well under ?20 each so you can buy a nice bottle of something special to go with them.

Perhaps start with a http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...an=43&sec=1377 the 1998 aged one, given it's the same price.

and then http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...man=51&sec=871 again it's aged this time 2001

And if your feeling flush you could finish off with http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index...man=36&sec=178 they are the old band so again pre 2003

It might be the sceptic in me but are these definitely pre 2003 Fundadores? It doesn't mention anything about being vintage so I would have assumed it just an old photo - especially as the other two give the year.

I think try to get something with a little age.
You won't go wrong with most cigars, with a bit of age on them.
BHKs though, from a reputable seller, IMO are very good even young.
But I know some people who don't take to BHKs at all.

You are right to be sceptical, but given that I just happen to have one in my humi I know for a fact that he has pre 2003's

If you can find one, Monty Sublime 2008 LE. Pretty rare now but one of the best cigars from the last few years.
