I have always had a 'thing' for well crafted wood boxes with a story, cigar or otherwise.

The Monticristo petite edmundo box is a SBN box (semi boite nature) rather than a dress box

A cab is more to do with the shape other known as SLB what you have is a dress box some are wooden with printed paper covering then others are plain wood like yours all depends on the marca

Probably the difference between what is perceived as the nicer product for retail against what the aficionado may prefer for ageing.

It's probably daft, but for me it feels like they need to come in proper solid wooden boxes, otherwise I feel like I may as well buy singles and fivers - I love wooden boxes, as they add an extra dimension to the whole cigar experience.
I'm really looking forward to getting a box of bhk's for that very reason
Have you never seen how they're made? The cardboard ones your talking about are made from cedar too and take just as much effort to make
