  • 3 Fails - Why? And what to do now?

Yesterday I got hold of an Ashton VSG enchantment from Greens in Leeds - I've been dying to try these, so I was really excited and got to it as soon as I got home...
    And yet...
Tasted average, produced little smoke and was hard to keep lit.
Ended up ditching it and moving on to...
CAO OSA Lot T - One of my favourite sticks - Kept in my humi at 70rh. Tasted marginally better than the ashton, but struggled to stay lit and virtually no smoke.
Finally moved on to a short story - ordinarily my go to smoke if I'm fed up cos of a crap cigar... Kept in a different tupperdore, filled with boxes. Lit well, plenty of smoke, good draw - but tasted like I was eating road - so tarry it was unbelievable - binned it and gave up.

Three different cigars, from three different sources, kept in three different places.

    So help! What gives?
Was I just unlucky, or did I do something wrong?
And more to the point - where do I go now to restore my faith in cigars?
    What should I smoke next?

Sadly probably not - have hard far more problems with ccs than nsc - hence why I'm so perplexed.
Haven't had one single bad NC so far, so to have three on the bounce seems very odd to me.

I've not had a problem with a cc for ages.

Hard to keep lit is usually a humidification issue. Did you smoke them outside and was/had it been raining?

Tarring happens, and might have been caused by you're being anxious for a 'decent' smoke and drawing too hard.

But all sounds like humidity to me, some days smoking outside in the UK is problematic as the amount of moisture in the air can be very high, and sucking it through a cigar can create a 'bung' effect or even cause the cigar to swell behind the burn line and eventually burst.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Maybe try dry boxing your next smoke for 24-48hrs.
shouldnt have probs with it going out etc...

It does sound like humidity, the weather seems to be a culprit given that one was straight from a supplier and the others from your humi. There is also the chance that you were unlucky, even the best cigars are still a natural product so we have to accept that some are better than others. Prob the weather though as Tippy said.

For the past few days the humidity has been quite high. I noticed when I picked a stick out of my humi that the humidity was two degrees higher than the rating on my Boveda 69. A quick check of the room hygrometer revealed it to be 72%. It's still 65% here today. Might have something to do with your troubles.

Should try living in the northwest, usually never below 65 haha was 77% yesterday.

Yeah sounds like the Great British weather though
