I'm sure I saw on QI once that the air quality on planes was actually better when people were allowed to smoke as the air was constantly being replaced with fresh new air, but since smoking has been banned the carriers just keep the same stale air in for the whole flight

I'm not sure how true it is (I've taken QI facts with a slight pinch of salt as I don't think you always get the full picture) but its an interesting thought that smokers used to do non-smokers a favour by smoking in a confined space with them

Good for airlines. They can serve terrible food, and blame it on pressure in cabin

This may make a smoke more smooth or enjoyable less ruff ???

Rockies aren't serious altitude Peejay .... Elbert, the highest is only 14,500ft .... some of the Alps are higher .... serious is Everest at 23,000ft. Breathing is difficult at that sort of height, smoking a cigar would be almost impossible for anyone who wasn't a Nepalese Sherpa.

When I was a traffic cop I used to tell the occasional oik that they had an altitude problem and when they said 'Don't you mean attitude' told them they were getting above their station. It amused me, ho hum. tumbleweed.jpeg

Yeah I misread it to. The image I had was of an American biker, probably because I've been watching Sons of Anarchy recently
