  • An Acknoledgement of palate change

    Good Evening Gentlemen,

Do hope all is well and a fine cigar is either been enjoyed or about to be

As my journey through the World of cigars is never ending, something that I think I can bring to a close is my desire of small Vitola cigars. For me, they just do not give me the enjoyment they once did.

I know there are people on the forum that really do appreciate the smaller ring size and I do have quite the assortment (Lanceros, 2005 EMS Punch Margaritas etc etc). When the time is right, I would be happy to trade or sell. This is not a money generating exercise, so trades would be preferred and I certainly would not like to trade with someone who has any other intention of selling them on, if that makes sense. I would love for the person who gets them to enjoy them as they have been stored and aged beautifully.

Anyhow, the main point I am going for here is that your palate, development of the organoleptics is constantly evolving. Who knows, 5 years from now I may be like Doh! I do like a slender gauge, but I can not quite see it.

    Each to their own.

    Happy Saturday you fine people

I wish the milder cigars tasted as good as they did when I first started. I still like HdMs but when I first started I thought they were phenomenal, now I crave more strength and they taste a bit too light.

Hey Johnny, not sure I have had the pelasure of saying hello...So hello!

We have a forum rule for very good reasons that to access these areas, you must be at least a member for 3 months, be active (no you do not need 3,000 posts lol) and try to get to a cigar herf to out names to faces etc. Also, build bridges (I am not so good at that ) Patience is key. The main action is where we are right now.

        Hope that explains things comrade

So much advice on this forum. A true Mecca to the cigar World.

Hello Ross. A pleasure to meet you.

I wondered why the buy/sell forum was empty.

I totally understand the reasoning behind it though. I will be patient.

I'd think of appealing to palate in terms of liking, or not, a particular flavour or taste. My palate doesn't permit me, unfortunately, to like many NCs for example.

Whether ring guage, or a particular profile associated with certain brands of cigars is your thing Ross, perhaps try a broader spectrum of single skinnies to see if your hypothesis stands up I may have missed something, but what is it that you specifically aren't enjoying? I know your title pertains to palate (flavour/taste) but perhaps it is something else such as the tactility of slender smokes?? Just a thought

I had to read that twice. I thought you asked where's my thumb up

Worth remembering that ring guage and strength are not always linear. Try smoking a Party 898, Monte Especial, La Esception etc.

I agree. I'm more likely to select a size because of the available time to smoke rather than palate..

                        Point

It's a bit unclear as to what the issue is here I think.

Perhaps it's a 'bad taste' of some sort?
