  • Finding a 30 year old cigar

My 30th is coming up in July and I've already got a few sticks which I've been saving over the years for the occasion. (BHK52, 2002 Esplendidos and VR Don Alejandro)

I was talking to the wife and she asked if I was going to try to get a 30 year old cigar. The thought hadn't crossed my mind but I think it'd be interesting to try!

How and where would I get a single 30 year old stick? From a Jul '85 box would be perfect. I don't have the budget for a box at auction. I'm not precious about the variety but something special to mark the occasion would be nice.

    Thanks!

      Hello Scuzi
I cannot help directly, but how about popping over to the newbie greets section and introducing yourself? You never know, it might increase your chances of finding something?

lol cj guess even at 30 you can still be "told off"

cant help with the 30 stick question but good luck and happy hunting.
I just hit 45 this month, so im guessing my chances are dwindling real fast....

Telling off? Moi? Naaah, I thought it a polite way of encouraging our Scuzi in to the fold squire

You and me alike there kitobi, I turned fifty last year so I imagine I'll never get that birth date smoke, lol.

Thanks guys. I will make a point of getting over to the newbies forum.

The search for a 30 year old stick continues. I've been scouring the usual stores but there's nothing remotely close. When I lived in the US, the cigar stores would regularly have significantly aged sticks (at a premium!). It doesn't seem to be the done thing here in the UK though. I was hoping there would be one store out there which would sell singles of this vintage.

I don't know why, but it has become a bit of a personal mission. I wasn't bothered even when my wife made the suggestion, but when it became apparent that it wasn't going to be so easy, admitting defeat was no longer an option!

Maybe I should buy a few boxes so I won't be disappointed on my 100th

I just got off the phone with JJ Fox here in Dublin. They're going to have a look and get back to me.
I'll let you know if they have anything they can sell from that specific year.

Just got off the phone, again, with JJ Fox Dublin. They have a few Davidoff Dom Perignons from early 1985 that they can sell as singles.
If you haven't heard of these, they are rare, sought-after cigars.
Here's the contact details, ask for Yiorgos, he handles online and phone sales. I've told him he may be getting a call from the UK, enquiring about them.

Well done Ryan, sure they'll be expensive but you're only 30yo once!

Ryan, you're a star! Thank you very much!

I'll get in contact with them and will hopefully have something to review in July.
