What do you love about smoking cigars?

I have been considering how to answer this question without writing an essay so to put it briefly. first & foremost the taste (don't think anyone else mentioned that?). Secondly relaxation. Thirdly the shared love of cigars through this forum & others, especially getting together in person, it's always worth the effort!

It's a very relaxing form of pass time for me. I know smoking a cigar will always help me relax through whatever issues (if any) I may be going through

I disagree with no one here. The switch off and also the social side of it is what I love, but also the collecting and sharing. The generosity of BOTLs is amazing.

Everything that comes with smoking cigars, the humidor the cigars inside the aroma you get when opening the lid to take a cigar out etc
then last but not least the enjoyment one gets of tasting different cigars.

I am epicurean at heart... it appeals to all of those aspects, as well as the admiration for a handmade thing designed for enjoyment.
This is pretty much me, with the exception of the alone time, as more then half the times I smoke a cigar my wife smokes one with me.

The rich, fullness of smoke; the sociability of the experience; the room note is great (not that I smoke indoors, but that is great). The tactility of grappling with a phat one and the ritual of prepping for lighting springs to mind also. Smoking time is limited and usually social with a good friend, so I rarely get that 'me time' which is okay.

it's an hour where you can just relax and let the world pass you by, a nice drink and an Havana heaven

For me it's taking a back seat on every day life, and mulling over it (life)…
Past, present, future.
I often find myself reminissing lost friends/family.
Oh… and enjoying the cigar leaf and the flavours/experience it offersLast edited by Simon G; 26-06-2015, 03:54 PM.
