  • Old 'Sir Winny'

... not the H Upmann the real Sir Winston.

Was watching a TV program which involved some footage of the old boy painting. He kept his cigar in his mouth all the time while sitting, something I hadn't noticed before and something I never (can't) do myself.
Arnie too seems able to smoke a cigar without removing it from his mouth .... I would like to be able to do it and get on with gardening, but have found it impossible .... who else does this?
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

It must lead to a soggy cigar surely

I don't do this but also prefer to smoke when I'm not doing anything else so I can give the cigar my full undivided attention.

I've tried it for the sake of trying it before, get into a good breathing / smoking pattern / technique and you can make it work.
Easier with a pipe as you can plug the stem with your tongue.

I have been known to do it with a small panatella or a cuban mini/club while watering the garden, but I must admit I prefer to smoke while not doing much else.

Same here, very hard for me to work with a cigar in my mouth. Dunno how people do it....prefer to smoke in a "relaxed" setting vs. something like fishing/hunting/yard work.

I used to work with a guy who worked with a cigar hanging from his mouth, the smoke never seemed to bother him. Whenever I try it I end up in tears with the smoke getting in my eyes. Just something I've never enjoyed, to me cigar smoking is a bit of a ritual.

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!

an old guy I used to see at local racecourses used to sharpen a matchstick and push it into the foot leaving about half an inch sticking out , held that in his teeth while using both hands to read form
