Hi, thanks for the help guys.

I did a lot of searching and reading on the cigars you all suggested, unfortunately all it did was reiterate how little I know about cigars.
Anyway, after all that I have decided to go with the Partagas and see how it goes, I'm just a little worried about how strong it will be for us novices However I am very much looking forward to trying a whisky with the cigar it was specifically meant to be paired with. I will let you know how it goes.

You can get marzipan cigars around xmas.... No good for smokin though!

I tasted almond in a Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro I recently had. It is a moreish flavour, especially in a cigar!

Reminds me, I've not had an Epi 2 for a while so will have to revisit again soon to see if I can detect any marzipan but I do get sweet coconut from the Epi Especial which is another nice stick.

Good shout. I also quite like the Petit Robusto. It's just the Epi 2 that really doesn't do it for me (I always find a little artificial almond note in there - I love almonds but hate things like marzipan, strange old way our tastebuds work).

One I'd throw into the mix is the Rafael Gonzalez Coronas Extra. An excellent lighter match with whisky - not tried it with the Dalmore Cigar Malt, but has matched very well with Dalmore 15 and Highland Park 15.

Hi Rebecca and welcome to the forum.

I would go for a Hoyo de Monterrey les Hoyo des Dieux, 42 ring being novice friendly and they pair well with good whisky.
These have a nice array of complex woody tones.

Would someone be able to recommend me a good cigar to pair with this whisky? Either from having tried the whisky and know what pairs well with it or being able to suggest a cigar with a similar but milder flavour to the Partagas.

A similar sized cigar that is lighter would be the Hoyo De Monterry Epicure II

Your recipient will enjoy this cigar with a wee dram I am certain.
