Evening all. As you can see by the above picture I have a La Aurora cigar that I've had nearly 18 months. The cigar is still in perfect condition, it was in a tupperware box but is now in my humi. Anyway I was just wondering should I smoke it or leave it to age more?
I am of a mind that keep saving things for special occassions and you might let the occassions pass you by without anyof them being special enough. So make any occassion extra special with a good smoke! that said, there are some which improve with age. I had two upman d-c's about a year apart. Hated the first, loved the second...resting it up a bit gave it depth. But i wouldnt have got to that turn around without trying the first...despite it being poor, i learned something and held off the second to see what happened.... Glad i did, cracking wee sticks!

Marc's right, smoke the singles and age boxes. Preferably cabinets of 25 or more. In all truth though ageing cigars is only really feasible if you have a lot of storage and cigars to smoke in the meantime. I have quite a few boxes now but I still bout my ability to leave them alone.
Smoke it. Those preferidos are a nice cigar, I think they're quite old school feeling. In fact I do t have NC's anymore but I'd like a box of the ruby La Aroura Preferidos.
My strategy has been to keep a supply of singles in the humidor and smoke those "regularly" and now I have boxes, take a maximum of 1 every 6 months to taste, but I'm not investing in cigars, so by the time the box hits 20 (5 smoked) they have an extra 2 1/2 years on them!
Anyway, on that note, must pay a visit right now to our sponsored merchant!!
NC's not worth ageing - so many NC smokers say. Smoke your NC's fresh (they have been aged longer than C.C.'s before release)& follow Npalfrey's advice on ageing the boxes/cabs you have. You probably need a dozen boxes before you can age them successfully but that's easier than you think if you keep buying, when you can afford it.

Well my intention was to smoke it when I got my new job then when my boy was born. Then when I moved into my new house But that has mounted up to 18 months nearly now and it was never my intention to try to age it just wanted if for a special occasion but as Emaresee said and that's what's happened. I kept putting it off and off for the 'right' occasion. I'll smoke it soon. My birthdays in November so I'll have it then I promise [emoji3]

i am guilty on that charge too..... Often with wine... I have some stunning high class aussie shiraz that drinks well at 5-10 years old but i've let some go past its best for fear of not being special enough!

La Aurora Preferidos 1903s are a real treat when you get a chance. I wouldn't prefer Ruby over Sapphire over Platinum over anything because they're all quite enjoyable (and I haven't tried as many as I want to, shhhh. don't tell anyone ).
Personally, I wouldn't even age these things as they're normally all good to smoke right away. I just wish they weren't as expensive... But they are fantastic non-Cubans that are finger-licking good!
Enjoy them when you have an hour and thirty minutes or so! They may look small, but they sure as hell last a decent time, have a great burn, and hold up to a lot of the Cuban aromas!
