  • Wetting your cigars???!!!

Has anyone else heard of or done this? I was having a look on the forum sponsors Twitter feed today and someone posted a link to an article which discussed the merits of soaking your cigar in water before smoking. Supposedly there are benefits to be had from holding it under a running tap of cold water for 6-7 seconds. It goes on to say only the wrapper should make contact (and it will protect the rest of the cigar from getting wet), otherwise the cigar will be ruined (obviously). It's meant to improve the flavour apparently. Sounds totally bonkers! I don't think I'd try but wondered if anyone else had?

Why ruin a good cigar bad enough when they are over humidified.
Bloke that said that must be a bit

Haha! That's right. Maybe he needed to give them a wash afterwards!

Apparently it was a Ghurka so Monica would have been an improvement in taste

There are plenty of guys on here who will testify that quickly running a Jose le Piedra under the tap makes it taste chocolatey

I've just been reading about this....here's the article i was reading.

Share it! There have been several heated discussions in blogs and forums on the web, over the benefits of wetting your cigar before smoking it. Min Ron Nee, a well respected aficionado was the one that said he sometimes puts […]

I was walking through Mayfair last year, this old boy was "choosing down" on his stoogie something written... Proper chewing the hell out of it. Looked like. RYJ Churchill....

When he took it out of his mouth to relight, it was beyond soggy....

                  He looked delighted!!!

That's the one. Sounds bizarre, but kind of intriguing too.

I have a friend that swears that wetting the tip of the cigar in whisky or cognac is a beautiful thing. I've tried telling him otherwise, but I didn't have a lot of success...

Mo and I heard about this a while back. Both very sceptical.....

Mo sacrificed a JLP to the cause and shockingly confirmed it completely changed the cigar by bringing out pleasant flavours that weren't there before.

not sure I would do it with a pricy stick though.

Seen this article the other day, I think only worth trying with a cheaper stick, maybe improve flavour and make the cheap stick more enjoyable...
