  • Cigar Festival Havana 2016

This year is the 18th Habanos Cigar festival is being held from 29th Feb till 4th March.
The highlight this year will be the 50th Anniversary of Cohiba. To celebrate this event Habanos is producing 5000 jars each numbered with 25 cigars in each jar.
The ring gauge on these Cohiba cigars will be 60 ring gauge by 7 inches in length. Certainly a most impressive vitola for the most prestigious of all Habanos brands.
Lets see if it is confirmed in February.

I'd love to go to the festival one day.

A 7x60 Cohiba? Sounds like they're getting ready for the American market.

How absolutely disappointing (and unsurprising) that they've gone for the large stick size

Not surprising at all like you say. Despite all the romance we attach to cigars for the Cubans they are just an income generating product that they will exploit to their best financial advantage

Putting all the rumours together and disseminating the best evidence, there are three new Cohibas being released this year.
A regular production "Medio Siglo", 52 rg X 102mm with a pigtail and medio tiempo tobacco.
The Cohiba Oro, 58 rg X 150mm, in 1966 humidors of 20 cigars.
The Platino, 60 rg X 178, 50 humidors of 50 cigars in total, with a rumoured price that will make this cigar irrelevant to any members here, least of all me.

I don't see 5,000 jars of those happening.

would have been good to see something at each 'tier' a smaller vitola, a medium weight, and a big log to stand above the behike... cant help but think it would mean all sell at a premium... to a wider audience

Hopefully some of them will be ready by summer, and in an affordable price range.

Being a cohiba brand and coming in jars of 25 think best to go and see your bank manager.

Exactly what I am suspecting Tony. But, you can always hope.

As I said, I would be surprised if there are jars for the bigger cigar (60 X 178mm)
I've heard rumours of $100,000 per humidor of 50.
