The guy in the book tested them by bending them gently, apparently genuine long filler cigars will bend a bit but short fillers and those filled with crap snap in half.
    Now you spilled the secret.

There are some of these ex-pats who purchase empty stamped boxes to fill them up with genuine cubans to sell them on the grey market.

There is a crowd of sellers outside the old partagas factory shop who get very upset when you suggest they are fakes [emoji23]. A woman I know at work goes to cuba fairly often and insists blind that locals get the cigars at knock down prices when they go to the official shops.

A friend of mine dropped me a message when he got back from Cuba last week with a box of decidedly dodgy Esplendido's. I had to gently tell him that they were fakes.

I remember being propositioned in the bar at the Partagas factory a few years ago by some chap trying to sell me cigars. I just turned round and said I was buying the genuine ones from the shop counter behind me and not the fakes he was trying to peddle.

Its getting around that time of year people go on holiday come back think they can double their money by off loading fakes.

For some reason think a cigar forum will be the best place to do it go figure

I really think you are on the wrong forum. This place runs on trust and honesty.
Something you appear to have none of.
Indeed Johnny. If you think our comments & advice were all BS, why would you want to hang out here? I mean Mr Black, are you Sirius?

Too bad Ray Jay ain't around these parts no more....he'd have a field day with this thread!

They only started dating them in 1984, or a box with a cardboard outer does not come with the date stamped on the box partagas 898 for example. Either of these could be the reason

Though these are fake the seals have square edges when should have angles at top of hologram.

To whoever said the barcode never showed up on habanos checker that happens with authentic boxes from time to time too so not a 100% check it's been known a few times to be wrong
