  • Humidors - What's the difference

Just wondering what are the differences in a humidor at ?40 than a humidor at say ?150. Both hold the same amount of sticks, both look the same etc etc. Is it the finish or the Hygrometer and oasis?

Cheap ones are not the best if you want something that's airtight.

I suppose you get what you pay for .

You do get to what you pay for generally, the seal can be dodgy on cheaper ones; general workmanship also varies. It is quite easy to tell a bad humidor; that being said you don't have to pay ?100s to get a decent enough one

I bought this one a few years ago and it's a rather good one. A bit small though. I bought it in a store and tested a few to get one with a perfect seal, had to go through a few to find one though.

                Humidors - What's the difference

I have one by Hillwood that's very similar if not the same & it's a good humidor. It holds humidity nicely. The lid is heavy giving a good seal. The base is felted.

                    Humidors - What's the difference

I got a matching pair & gifted the other one, with some cigars in. They were on eBay new from the supplier - Hillwood of Hastings

The humis from Watchwinders have a good seal and are a decent size. Rip out the hygrometer and humidifiers swapping them for a Caliber IV and some Boveda packs and you have a decent humi that should last for years (or in my case become a singles humi when you buy a scubador).

50 count is too small, start with a 100 at least. Humi levels easier to maintain when you have a stock in there & you'll soon fit it anyway. The German company is fine, used it too. Lid should close with a swoosh!

Going by the photo paul it does look rather nice, wood looks thick as well, but it's a matter of time before you will be looking for another one
a bigger one my advice would be spend the money once rather than twice a get a bigger one than you realy need
we have all been there inc myself got an andorini myself they are very well built and hold humidity.

                            Cheers guys, and cheers Simon.

Appreciate the 50 count maybe small, however I think for my needs the 50 will be adequate. I'm not a daily smoker, probably more towards weekly/fortnight, or depends how many times Mrs K goes out during the week. I have a stock of about 30 sticks, and will be looking to buy boxes of 10 / 12 at a time when they get low, plus allows time to save up.

got this from another forum paul just to give an idea what I said above

This is a 300 count humidor no more room and I have another 250 count humidor. I'm thinking about getting a cabinet or coolidor. What are you guys using to for 500-1k sticks
