  • Favourite Dessert Cigars?

    Good Evening All,

Being fairly new to this hobby, I tend to favour cigars that lean more towards the sweet and creamy and usually retreat for a smoke after dinner.

This got me thinking; what are everyone's favourite dessert cigars? Why do you reach for that particular stick after dinner?

Now i wouldn't say i had a particular cigar i reached for after a meal, however I have had a few H. Upmann Connossieur A's recently and the mixture of honey, gentle spice, and nothing short of marzipan has made this one of my top smokes - certainly like smoking granny's Christmas cake
Only the impossible is worth the effort.

Don't really have a desert cigar but if I would have to choose the Hoyo du Gourmet would come pretty close to one.

        Blondie!

        Good question, chico

When I think of a so-called "desert cigar," the Acid Blondie comes to mind. Not something I smoke very often, but when I want something sweet to enjoy after a meal in mixed company, I find the Blondie meets the approval of puffers and non-puffers alike. The birds seem to like 'em, too.

Great suggestions so far, gents. I recently had a NUB Maduro that could fit the bill quite nicely; bitter chocolate/coffee tones with lots of thick, creamy smoke.

I've smoked quite a few Connie A's recently and they've all been very good, definitely one of my favourites.

Just added one onto my next order, they sound like they will be right up my street.

Really is a lovely smoke, and a nice meaty size too

I look forward to seeing how you find it

Would you recommend letting it sit for a while before smoking?

Well i would say fire it up after you've let it rest for 5 days after the transportation, etc

I would let it sit for a while. Mine are from 2013 and they are stellar smokes right now.

I would rest any new smokes for a couple of months just to adjust to your humidor, I find if I smoke any cigar early after delivery they are usually (but not always!) a disappointment.

Thanks for the advice; it's always very tempting to light them up as soon as they drop on the doormat! I'd rather wait and have the best experience though, so I'm going to rest my current selection for as long as I can bear it.

It isn't easy to do so at first. But once your collection grows and you have a few aged sticks it's really pleasant to go through your sticks and chose one smoke.
