Whether it be food or drink, what are your tried and tested cigar pairings? Or do you prefer to let the cigar speak for itself?

You could come up with numerous different takes on what compliments what .. for me I prefer a full bodied cigar with a malt
I mainly drink Islay whiskey which is smokier than others which would kill a milder cigar imho .
Others might disagree . To be honest just try things out yourself see what you like

I've recently started drinking plain iced water with my cigars and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I used to pair with whisky but then I'd end up getting drunk and ploughing through three sticks in one sitting without getting the good of them.flying over your house,

Another vote for coffee or plain water. I’ve always fancied going to one of those cigars tasting evenings but they nearly always seem to pair the cigar with whisky or rum. I’m not a drinker of spirits although perhaps if the cigars were paired with beer or wine, I might be more tempted to attend such a function.

I tend to start a cigar with a coffee/cappuccino, however for 3/4's of the cigar i am drinking water and the flavours of the cigar are improved greatly; i can taste a lot more with water than i can with anything else (i used to smoke a cigar with port). However, i do tend to favour the softer/lighter marcas (HdM/Upmann/Monti/PL), the few fuller bodied cigars i have had (Partagas/RA/) i tend to prefer coffee or port as i feel the flavours are not smothering the bolder smokes.
Cigars can also leave me rather dry mouthed at times (a smoke usually takes me between 1-2 hours), and i can guzzle water - the same can not be said of port or coffee where i would be needing to pop my bladder...Only the impossible is worth the effort.

I'm sat here drinking a doppio espresso right now. But not a stogie in sight  really bad planning on my part as I'm waiting for tyres to be changed. And I checked, there seems to be a drought around here of cigar shops .. or a business opportunity..
Anyway I digress. I usually go with a fancy pants craft pale ale. Or a diet cola. Occasionally have paired with a full bodied red wine. But prefer the ale route.
I don't get time to have a cigar in the morning with coffee. And I prefer a decent filter over n/espresso.
Like I said now is a missed opportunity..--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...
