Milder cigars.

I'm off to Bruges on Monday and hoping to pick up a box or two while I'm there, and wondering what suggestions people might have for a milder cigar - the ones I enjoy at the moment are things like H Upmann Half Corona's, HDM Epicure No 2, RyJ No 2. The following are all milder cigars (as far as I can tell) which I've not tried: El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme; Rafael Gonzalez Perla; Montecristo Media Corona; Montecristo Edmundo; Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robustos; San Cristobal de la Habana El Principe.

Any out of that list to avoid or any others that I should look out for.

If you like the HUHC, I think you would enjoy the HdMPR and the Principe.

Try the San Cristobal La Fuerza. One of my favorite mild smokes at the moment is the VR Clasicos, but it's out of production. Maybe they'll have some older stock available there ad you'll find some since it's a much overlooked smoke.

I find choix supreme are excellent around the 5 years of age mark, but don't enjoy them as much young. If.you can find any des dieux these are the best mild Cuban smokes imo. Failing that.the hoyo epicure especial is a great mild smoke.

Monte no 5 are a sure shot if you're after milder short smokes.

Hoyo's & ERDM or H.Upmann No2, are the way to go, LCG is you fancy something a little more exotic but I'll be surprised if you find them in Brugge.

fonseca and la flor de cano are milder cigars imo also I find the tripa corta cigars to be milder and often overlooked not to mention well priced

Punch Coronas if you can find them or Fonseca Delicias are lovely smokes. The San Cristobal principes are excellent.

I also appreciate a milder smoke, and like @Simon Bolivar said, you cannot really go wrong with any type of HdM. I would really encourage you to try a San Juan if you find them - yes they're a big smoke BUT it is a smoke filled with cream, light spices, and sweet tobacco - i would say it is lighter than the Epicure Especial. Also have a look for any Elagantes (check them for under filling), i have really enjoyed the 4 i have smoked so far, and they do look great! I would say that the Petite Robusto Hoyo is surprisingly one of their more medium smokes, and IMHO requires more age than other's in the Marca. There is, of course, the Double Corona - this smoke needs to introduction; and if you have never tried one then buy one (or a box?!)

H Upmann wise i would also add the classy Magnum 46 or Royal Robusto (with a few years on them).

If you like the Montecristo Edmundo line (which i do enjoy, but i find them to have greater body than some of their other smokes ) I would say definitely seek out a Petit No. 2; an absolute corker of a smoke, the one's i have smoked have never been heavy, rather offer a mixture of rich flavours with light spice.

Edit: Also, see if you can find any Choix du Roi - they're the RE for Belgium, and i have smoked one and it was a really creamy affair - will also be good to age!

Well I'm back. On Simon Bolivar's recommendation paid a visit to Missault Tobacconists and met Christophe and Peter (?). Could have spent a lot of time (and money) in there but had SWMBO in tow. Christophe was very helpful and ended up persuading me to get a box of aged Open Masters which were only a little more than the regular ones. I also got a few singles. I can highly recommend Missault - both guys spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Looking forward to trying one of the Montis in the not too distant future.

Glad you had a successful trip & I am sure Monte Open Series will suit you. I must admit it's the only line of Monte's I haven't tried, just because I personally don't want a milder Monte (I'd chose a Hoyo) but they have gained some fans along the way. Let's hear what you think of them in a quick review, at least their ready to smoke right now. They do have a FB page, so you can check out some interesting items before you go, then ask Christophe to reserve them for you.
