  • Aged Stock!

Sorry if this sounds a daft question,

As I?ve not been into many B&Ms to buy my cigars as felt daft with being new into the cigar world,I?ve mostly purchased mine online,

But as I am trying to get a little collection together,I am finding it really hard to not light one up,
So do the likes of my local B&M in Chester actually stock aged cigars for me buy?

Thanks again, really enjoying this forum since I?ve joined.

Every newcomer, as I found myself, has the same dilemma when starting up.
You want to try as much variety as possible so start with singles, two's and three's etc.
You may come across some aged stock but you will pay premium prices for it.
Once you start buying boxes you can start to age your own. I try to smoke no more than one or two from a box per year.
It doesn't always work out but the more boxes you buy, the easier it becomes to discipline yourself.
Once you get PM status on here, you will be able to take part in box splits and purchases etc. so will have more opportunity.

You local B&M is likely to have aged boxes/singles. But as JT said you will pay premium. If you have space and you're young start as JT suggested!

I popped into my "local" B&M and ended up with these little beauties http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthr...080#post380080 average of just over 20+? per stick

There are also the following double banded options as well as the plain old stuff.

LCDH - i think these are mature
Anejados - aged in Cuba 5+ years
LE's are usually at least 2 years old i think

Most of these cost more than regular production by quite some margin sometimes!

      Go have a root around!

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

The simple solution? Go on holiday to Spain or Germany and fill your boots at more reasonable prices

          Thank you,
I am finding it so hard not to try one out,but like you said I have taken some very good recommendations and bought them in 2s and 3s,
          I?ve never been a patient person,[emoji107]
But like you say once I can join in on PMs and the likes of the COTM I will soon have some age on what I have.

To be honest until you get pm?s I wouldn?t buy more than you?re able to smoke. That, combined with a trip to Spain or similar, means you should build up stock in no time.

@Stocko, on top of the sage advice already given, and as long as they have rested in your humidor for a few weeks, I would also say throw your reserve to the wind, embrace your curiosity, and start smoking through your singles! Don'y worry about ageing these ones...

The cigars you have purchased will still taste great NOW, and will give you a great introduction to the macras/vitolas, and give you some reference points on the flavours they offer when younger.

                    Old does not mean better!

Go forth and flambe those stick, kick back, and relax in the warm embrace of a good habanos ...

                    (though not @ha_banos - i hear he's a selfish lover )
Only the impossible is worth the effort.

                      Aged Stock!

I will actually answer your question. Yip the LCDH in Chester will have aged stock. In the majority of cases you won?t pay a premium for aged stock in the U.K. For example H&F are shipping out just now 2007 monticristo tubo with a 2017 ems sticker. Have a look on https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com you can see the band/packing change to easily identify older stock. When there not in boxes. Or just ask the guys/girls in the shop

If your making a trip to Chester be rude not too leave yourself enough time to have a cigar and some free coffee in there lounge

I totally agree with thedame, smoke what you?ve got now, aged stock will accumulate over time but that shouldn?t prevent you from enjoying what you have. Even though I have a decent amount of aged stock I still love the first from a new box as it sets a benchmark to measure the others against over time.

Totally agree.... live for the now and enjoy your cigars if and when you can give it a year down the line you will have a nice healthy stock of aged and young cigars...just hope you have enough space for a other humi scaba or wineador lol.

You could also try some ncs like the liga privada which is supposed to taste better young and many say starts going downhill after a year or two. Its an incentive to have one now instead of waiting for that 10 year old stick.

I'll certainly agree with smoke what you have and continue to poke around the shops and you'll find stuff to stock up. Maybe plan to buy a few boxes a year + pick ups of singles or whatever .. believe me .. won't .. take .. long ..

Just smokes away! Def good advice to settle in the lounge and have a smoke! Either you'll find something you want a box of. Or you've learned something.
