I don't mind keeping my tools sharp myself. My kitchen knives can shave hair when they are freshly sharpened, it brings me joy. [emoji5]

I'm the same with my kitchen knives, japanese whetstones and strop once a week. Just thought with the curved blade on the xikar it would be difficult to get a decent edge.
You?ll need a fine Ceramic honing rod. The steel in cutters tends to be fairly soft so a ceramic honing rod is more than enough. As for taking it apart it?s up to you. If it?s a ballache to take apart, protect one blade with paper or something similar then put the rod through the hole at the most acute angle possible. With almost no pressure run the rod through the hole and along the exposed blade in one direction.
I could shave with my cutters! Stops any crushing when cutting as well. If the above doesn?t make sense drop me a PM, don?t want to nerd out too many people!

I have two sharpening stones for small blades. Round one one side and straight for the others. One is like 300 grid and the other around 1000.
But I need to get the blade out. Need to find out what the torx size it is.
