Does anyone else find themselves absolutely fascinated with how long they can hold the ash on a cigar? The satisfaction in a perfectly formed ash, perfectly consistant colour and density etc is amazing.
Is there any real point where it is advisable to say "enough is enough", and drop the ash? I've noticed a couple of times that it has gotten so dense that it affects the combustion of the cigar and so have had to lose the ash, then persuade it to relight with a quick flame.
What sticks have produced the best ashes for you? Strange question, but hey.
I mention this stick a fair amount, because its currently what I have most of, but the Oliva Series O Toro is awesome. Every one I have had has had the most perfect burn and construction. I love how low maintenance it is.
Plug a picture of my awesome hand in here too haha...

Dude! I'm an ass man myself!

TJ's Rule # 69: "Don't play architech with the ash. When it starts showing cracks, tap 'er off."
While smoking outside, I let the ash fall off naturally. And I often violate TJ's Rule and play "architect" by seeing how long it will get before it drops away under the force of gravity.
TJ, TJCoro, and me birds always like to see how long I can make me ash
