It's less painful to buy a box of Dukes than a box of Sublimes, for example?
I prefer the Sublime over the Duke, but - cigar lover that I am - I think it's insane to shove a ?30 stick in my mouth regularly.
So I looked at my box of Dukes and voted for that.
I lit up a Duke when driving back from London on my own yesterday in flurries of snow. I lit it near the Gherkin tower and headed through the Blackwall Tunnel south-bound. All the way through the city, I was showing off like a Lord at the wheel.
By the time I was passing Sittingbourne, I was getting a distinct taste of berries. Blackcurrants. The smoke was warming me up inside deliciously.
By the time I was avoiding Dover by back country routes, I was ending off the cigar.
When I drew up outside my house, I saw four best friends fresh back from a Lanzerote Christmas who were sitting in my house. They know I toke and 'rib' me about it - zzzzz - but have never seen me 'at it'. They don't smoke.
I went up to the loo, doused my moustache and gums, dried myself.
I imagined I'd honk of cigars - but I didn't. At least nobody said anything.
All this shows what a post-paranoid and rounded man I am, and that a workdesk of beaurocratic (sp?????) crud after two weeks off can set a man's digits swinging in a swinger's swinging life.
I do like a great smoke, but for normal life I smoke at around ?8 to ?12 per puro on average. My budget could extend beyond that, but I just cannot justify the expenditure when all else is considered.
I NEVER let her in on the calculations.
Come join me in my shack over a bowl of fortnightly Kentish gruel some time.
Just noticed that CA put the P2 tubos in 10th place of their best of 2009 (for the moment only no. 10,9 and 8 are out)... wonder if the Dukes and sublimes will be there...
hello all,
out of curiosity, aside from the obvious, what's the difference between the tubed partagas p2 and the the untubed/boxed variety? is there any noticable difference in flavour and/ or intensity? i had a p2 tubos a while ago that knocked my socks off and was thinking about getting a box of 10! the only reason why i'm asking is that it's only the partagas p2 listed in this poll, whilst someone mentioned that the p2 tubos had made CA's top 10 for 2009!!!!
probably a stupid question that's been answered a million times before! any help would be greatly appreciated! i have bought certain cigars tubed and untubed before (psd4, boli rc, cohiba siglo2), but never thought it any more than a handy storage utensil to keep the cigar fresh & safe!!!

all the best,

I probably should not answer this because I have not had the tubo version. However, I believe them to be the same cigar except for the cool looking storage tube. Others, will be able to answer this for sure though.
