  • Ajay and the Casa in Teddington

On wednesday I was due to fly out to Barcelona at lunch time. The weather meant our plane was grounded and we ended up in a hotel at heathrow in preparation for flying early on thursday. Dear Sir Nicholas Wing on hearing of my predicament reminded me that Teddington (the home of The Casa Del Habano) is not far from Heathrow so I trundled down. I hadn't been there before, although I had previously but briefly met Ajay the proprietor.

    What to say?

Ajay and his wife made me feel unbelievably welcome. I had a german regional edition Bolivar 109 that was amazing and Ajay joined me for an hour and a smoke. He is amazing company and a proper aficionado. I picked his brains and we shot the breeze about cigars, cuba and more. It was an exceptionally enjoyable, if unexpected, afternoon.

Many of you know Ajay and the shop and I won't need to "sell" the idea to you but for those of you who don't.... make the effort to get over there. It's lovely.

Drew is absolutely right. It's a bit of a trek if you are in the centre of town but it's worth the effort and Ajay is a really great guy. You don't just have me saying that, I don't know anyone who goes there who doesn't rave about the place and his set up.

If you want more on his place search for the original epic Robusto discovery thread and enjoy.

I would also like to pay credit to the Drewster who, if the computer is to be believed posted this thread at 4.12am.

      Rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best cigar related nights ever, was spent at Ajay's along with Big_T.

Cannot recommend it any higher, it's an absolute must to visit, and his cigar collection is awesome.

I wish the place wasn't 70 or 80 miles away. Now that my son has graduated from Kingston University, I am no longer passing through the area.

La Casa at Teddington, Ajay - and the whole area! - are hugely civilised.

It's a Must-Visit for people with our affliction.

Aren't you going to tell us about the time you went there and smoked a Partagas SP1......again?

Not currently having a motor its a bit of a pain to get to but do-able with a bit of effort, I meant to go last year and think I will actually get it done this year as all I hear are good things

Twinned with a nice Pringle combo, you can impress the gullible yet by-pass the ironing.

I have never been but hoping to take a drive over on Sat 30th. Anyone else fancy it?

Wasn't aware of a Casa del Habano in blighty, it sounds like a cross between Shangri la and Alladins cave. Think I'm gonna have to schedule a trip soon too. Silly question I'm sure but I'm guessing its not cheap though, right?
