  • Cigar Smoking Health FACTS

I made a thread a while ago asking about general health facts and figures in regards to smoking cigars. Well I'd just like to touch on that again now that i'm totally over the Christmas/New year binges completely. I'm back to Weights 3x a week with HIIT and Tabata training. I am healthy, although I would like some light shed on cigar smoking in general.

I've not bothered Googling for research as I can imagine all you get is 'SHIT!, SMOKING IS BAD'. If i recall some of you here have had a hand in the medical track and had some info about mouth washes having a higher chance of mouth cancer than cigars or something like that.

I'm just after some reading material and some hard FACTS, for peace of mind.Perhaps some info on what's actually in cigar emitted smoke? Carcinogenic matter, all the scientific bump, I dooo want! I do like a little read and gearing up on info. I'm healthy, I workout 5-6 times a week and I eat the right stuff, and will be eating even better stuff soon (doing a slow transfer into a lower carb based diet). I like smoking cigars, it's my vice and I won't be giving up not for nobody. 2-3 cigars a week is my quota, if that's gonna kill me, then least i've enjoyed myself

Non-biased stuff i'm after, not 'cigar' articles that are blatently the same as ciggarette research.

to be honest mr b is it really worth reading into the health facts related to cigar smoking as im sure the majority, well every BOTL, would conclude that they really couldnt give a monkey..
whilst im not discarding your question as im sure you will agree everthing cigar related is always of interest, us BOTL's just love our cigars too much after all life is too short i say enjoy it whilst you have it.
please dont get me wrong i would be interested in some facts as the usual research is geared towards cigarette smoking.
enjoy your cigars happy smoking the mackem

i quite agree. smoking is probably bad for us. as is drinking too much, not getting enough exercise and being overweight. all of which i plead guilty to. but i'm quite content with my life and (by my definition of fitness) i'm physically capable of doing any of the activities i enjoy.
i think enjoyment of some of lifes finer things is self-limiting to an extent anyway as good food, drink and cigars really have to be enjoyed in moderation for proper appreciation.
i heard an expression recently that i found amusing " the worried well" ! not a lifestyle i intend to pursue.

        Benefits Vs. Risks!

        Hello Semor Mister,

A while back I came across an article in one of the many cigar mags that addressed this issue - comparing the nicotine content in cigarettes and cigars, the impact of inhaling and not inhaling and stuff like that there.

The one thing I remember most about the article was moderation - according the the author, 1 puro a day was acceptable.

I remember this because at the time, I smoked between 2 to 4 puros a day. These days (mostly due to a shrinking budget) I try to limit my enjoyment to 1 or 2 a day.

As my pappy, Pappy Coro used to say, "when it comes to fine puros and trashy women, the benefits outweight the risks"

Names Perro, El Perro, and I'm don't think Pappy's rule would apply to some of the bitches I know (I can say that because I am a stupid looking dawg smile...remember?).

That rule also applies to me blu-balls, El Perro.
