  • Am I Normal?

So I've tried many premium bigger cigars e.g. Monty 2s and 4s, ryj cazadores, triniad ryes, quinteros, HU half caronas, Vegueros mananitas, hdm petit robusto etc. but I much prefer monty puritos over all others....RYJ puritos and clubs come a close second. Occasionally, I'll have a JLPiedra Petit Cazadores. I smoke one a day/2 at weekends...I guess it's worked out for me financially as puritos are way cheaper than the larger formats....anybody felt the same?

I did start with the smaller cigars as part of the working my way up (budget wise). For me though the best small ones come from the New World, the Camacho Machitos, Avo Puritos and Davidoff Petit Panatela were the best I found for 20-40 minute smokes.

I then decided I was only going to smoke cigars when I had time for a 'proper one'. Although recently I've found myself looking for something smaller to enjoy the last of the sun before it gets too nippy outside, only to remember I stopped buying them 🤦‍♂️.

But if I have time, I do still prefer to smoke a larger cigar.

Sometimes I too just fancy quick smokes, but I’m lucky in having my own smoking retreat to smoke in my own time and I must admit a couple of hours enjoying a good long cigar is just so pleasurable. For those short smokes you would have to go far to beat a Leon Jimenes Petit Corona - fantastic value

I really enjoyed the Camacho Connecticut Machitos as a new smoker👍🏻

The Camachos are good, and reasonable prices too. Most places do a sampler pack of their different sticks which is worth getting.

Everyone has different tastes with cigars as what works for some doesn’t work for others. I think we sometimes get too hung up on the price / origins of a cigar vs. whether our palette likes it or not.

I had a Monte 2 and a Half Churchill the other week and I wouldn’t be in a rush to buy either again. But I really enjoyed a new world that was half their RRP. How does that work!

Buy what you like, not what others like.

It’s definitely not a common view but if that’s what you like run with it! It’ll save you a lot of money that way.

Personally I don’t mind a Party Chico or Monte Purito out of the options but they don’t give me the same satisfaction or depth of flavour/variation in the smoke that a full cigar does. So I like to stick to smoking when I have time to properly put aside to it now.

I did have a phase when I would take a pack of puritos on a night out but they just ended up getting smoked like cigarettes so I stopped.

Good short smokes of the Cuban variety: ERDM DT, can't over be over praised IMHO, RASCC do try this one Zoomb, , a real flav bomb & small enough for a 30-40min smoke.

Thinner gauge cigars are always a winner for me. If you're looking for a longer smoke than consider a small rg in a longer format. Maybe a PL montecarlo or LGC no 4. But to answer your initial question, I think you should just enjoy what you like and not worry too much about it

I think I may have a winner - RYJ petit Julietas. Ordered 3 of these from cgars ltd. Really enjoyed these....these are the only bigger format ones I've enjoyed so far apart from the monte/ryj puritos:

No but there are similarities in their flavours certainly, have you tried a Demi tasse if you like the petit julieta? Same vitola, but I would say better

What would you say is the best value for money Romeo y Julieta cigar preferably similar to the Julietas?

Here's a few links I found, the pack of Julieta's is very handy & something they didn't used to do; as my first box buy I remember 25 was the smallest unit in those days.

Have you tried the tin of Julieta-Julieta? I can't personally them as they weren't to my taste but they are popular with some.

The Puritos have there place, the Party Chicos being the most well known.

Attached is a pic of a vitola I can recommend as a decent cheap smoke: the Sport Largos, sells for around E5. I note our sponsor doesn't have them in stock but I am sure you can find them with a little trawling.
