XXIII FESTIVAL DEL HABANO Starting 20th Feb - 28th Feb 2021
XXIII FESTIVAL DEL HABANO Starting 20th Feb - 28th Feb 2021
It has come to my attention that the Cuban Cigar festival starts tomorrow.
I want to plan a trip for 2022 to attend this. My question is, have any of you been to the festival?
I didn't realize. That must be a disaster for their economy. I have promised myself to take a vacation to Cuba. God willing next year will be different.
Never been myself planning to be back in Cuba when we can but I think we’re still a while off that as I wouldn’t choose to go during the rain. Could be tempted to aim for Feb but I can’t see us waiting that long to visit if we can avoid it.
Maverickdrinkerr used to go I believe but I don’t know what happened to him

No, I haven't been to the festival but I have been to Cuba x4 & enjoyed every minute, well worth the long flights & expense. If you go to the Blog section you can read about a couple of my trips. The first one is a while ago now - 2011 but not much has changed really; just the old Havana is more crumbly.

I would be in. Been wanting to go for years but the boss has no interest to go (I wonder why, lol). Been wanting to find a few guys to go with. But I think that visiting during or shortly before and after the festival is the worst time to go. Too crowded and everybody is on the hunt for cigars. I have a friend who has been going for 3 to 6 months in the last 25 years and he certainly can point us in the right direction for everything cigar related. But I don't want to bust his balls too much when he's there since he has his girlfriend over there and probably better things to do than taking me around the island for two weeks.
I would seriously be intrested in such a group trip as well. As Mike, I wouldn’t be intrested to go during the festival. I’ve been there twice and loved it as well.
The guy you are talking about Mike, promised me he would organize a visit to El Laguito
Group visit would be very tempting don’t think I could get away with going without taking my better half though.
Who decides who gets first dibs in each shop?!
I would add to the expense point Cuba is an incredibly cheap country once you’re there if you support locals and have at least one decent contact happy to help book things for you. You can do it expensive but I wouldn’t do it that way personally

I’d certainly be in too, just for visiting Cuba. Cigar purchasing is not so interesting any more due to price increase of 60% on the Island.
Don’t worry about your “friend”s balls gojira, his girlfriend will be busting them anyways🤣🤣

The prices only went up that much for certain cigars (mainly Cohiba) plus the new tax. Most seem to be up closer to 25% (unless you’ve seen other info?) and Alex will still be selling his CRs for $3-5 I’m sure!
Can only imagine our prices are going to follow Cuba sadly too

Oh, he will organize everything if we ask him but I don't want to bother him too much. I'd just like a few introductions, his tips for Pinar del Rio and maybe a phone call to Papo to tell him that a fat balding German will be coming his way to get his hands on a few bundles of the sweet lanceros and lonsdales of his.

I wouldn't be too interested in the cigars that are available in the shops. Pinar del Rio would be my main target. And the secret handshake business in a couple of the factories.
