Most of the Epi Especial's recently gifted to me had badly damaged wrappers. However the sticks seemed at the proper hydration for smoking, so it was a matter of experimenting with patching up the damage. There were other cigars too far gone which provided the patchwork leaf material for the repairs. I mixed up some home made pectin glue, which worked very well. Below are pictures of the cigar, the repair - looking very much like a Frankenstein operation - and then a couple of pictures how the cigar burned. Even though the cigar looked doubtful, I was more than pleased that I saved the cigar and the fact it burned and smoked very well, right down to the very last inch. I feel confident I can save all of them.

    Good effort.

Although you could probably smoke them okay even with the wrapper damage. I once managed to smoke a petit Quintero which had the wrapper completely sheared off up to the band.

Great save. Did you wrap another wrapper around the wrapper? Or just bits of wrapper to patch up? Did you use binder or filter leaves to patch up?

I had a head come off a custom lancero recently. Gave me lots of anxiety. Plenty of glue seems to have fixed it but next smoking day will show.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

I used bits of wrapper from this pot of very poorly cigars. Out of further experimentation, I smoked a cigar today that had the wrapper missing off the first inch. It expanded and started to burn unevenly, but made a full recovery. I wish I knew where to find whole leaf so I could play around with re-wrapping. Any ideas?

There was a thread on another forum where someone had repaired cracks with Raw rolling paper with good success. If you run out of donor cigars or want to try and save a few more try giving that a go as well.
