Cgar subscriptions

Just wondering if anyone has tried any of the cigar subscriptions through Cgars and if so would you recommend?

I haven't but they sometimes do some very good value whisky and cigar tastings. I bought one for tonight - 3 x 50ml nips of Japanese whisky and 3 AVO cigars for £35.

Yeah I saw that also was tempted but didn't buy as I wouldn't be able to attend the herf

I don't think I can actually manage either but you can just have them when it suits you. You don't have to attend to be able to buy them.

Yeah true maybe I should have ordered that haha oh well there is always next time I keep seeing flash sales that look decent value too just don't know what to buy 😅

That's why you look at what other people are smoking, if they're crap we usually say so.

I've not attended a tasting online or in person. But after watching the vid Neila posted from the Germans blind tasting with the guy from ACE Prime cigars it can be good to be smoking as folk are talking. Of course if your watching a recording rather than live, works too.

I have been paying attention to what you lot smoke and I do have a list in my little book of potential buys but as I don't have a "proper" humidor yet I'm keeping my purchases small wife is buying me a humidor for my birthday I think.

Keep contributing here, post up what you’re smoking and if you enjoy it etc. You’ll get access to the private members forums on here and the COTM club.

In the mean time grab some singles and throw them in an airtight container with a 60g 62% Boveda if you’re only keeping a few on hand at a time.

A subscription box could be a good idea in the meantime if they’re better value than just picking up singles each month? I’ve not looked in to them but I’m sure there’s a slight discount to incentivise it

That's kind of what I have been doing buy a few singles to try i will need to change the Boveda pack to a 62% I though 69% was the way to go and no not for that reason haha.

I'm really thinking about the subscription as its 5 cigars I can smoke as I don't have a stock of cigars like you guys I only smoke maybe 2 cigars a week at the moment I want that number higher trying to use cigars as a way to quit smoking cigarettes and its working at present I would rather wait and smoke a cigar than smoke a cigarette 🚭

That’s a very valid point. But NC market is so vast it’s hard to say what is crap or not, but again not all NC’s are accessible in the UK. But saying that I base a lot of my NC to try list off your smokes 😂

Seeing as travelling isn’t an option for you and assuming you want to keep the price sensible I would go for the following

10 Trinidad Shorts
10 Monte Puritos
5 JLP Petit Cazadores

That totals somewhere around £75 delivered from cgars and will give you roughly one smoke a week for 6 months.

Then if you can get a selection of higher end Cubans and Non Cubans, say a selection of 25 over the next 6 months you’ve got your 2 a week (or sign up for one of the subscription services) Hopefully by early next year a short trip to Europe is an option and you can stock up on better stuff.

Of course if you don’t mind dropping more money the possibilities are endless but this is an expensive hobby, even more so when you’re starting out. This is still my current general smoking rotation now, 1 Purito, 1 Cuban, 1 non Cuban each week. Keeps the cost relatively low if you get them duty free on your travels and you can smoke every other day.
