  • boy do i feel like a Newb

I've always avoided Pyramidas, torpedos, etc as I always seem to have draw issues with them. I've had some partagas SPN2's sitting in my humi for about 3 months and havent smoked them for this reason. Well today I decided to bite the bullet and mike it my lunchtime smoke. Same issues as before. I was just about to abandon an almost full puro…

Then i decide what the heck ill trim a little more off… and it opened up! its now smoking a real treat!

After more than 10 years of smoking cigars you'd think I would have figured that one out ages ago!

    boy do I feel newbish!

Don't know what you're using to snip-'em with Bop. But, if you get the chance check out the Cuban Crafters cutter. Has a clever little hole at the base of the double blades .... perfect length torp cutting every time.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

      noob!
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

        hey bopmachine,
how much are you trimming off? i usually cut about a 1/4"..... i use the cuban crafter perfect cutter arf mentioned!!! i moved up to smoking Pyramidas/ torpedos whatever you wanna call them over the summer (partagas p2's, bolivar belicosos finos, upmann no.2's, monte 2's) and i never once had any draw or burn issues!!! also, i've worked my way through 2 10 boxes of p2's in the last few months and all have been perfect!!!!

if it feels tight on the pre-light draw, then you need to trim a little more!!!!

        all the best,

        alex

My gandfather always taught me to make a hole just under 1/4" in diameter on torps, so I have been following that (bad) advice for years. The hole I made to open her up was little more 5/16"

My grandfather was a tough man to disagree with. Even breaking his rule to open that puro up felt wierd? and hes been gone almost 9 years. I felt like he was going to charge in my office and whack me on the side of my head!
