  • The Big Move Happened!

I logged on yesterday & noted I hadn't been on since leaving the rig on the 19th Aug so if you have just seen 'likes' or comments on your old posts, it was me catching up. Good to have a break & to be honest so many tasks to complete & packing left to do, there wasn't time for any distractions. I had a dozen cigars I wanted to smoke to leave me with a round number to take or leave behind & I only managed half of those.

Cigar wise, I managed to bring the majority over usually my legal limits since Dec, had 289 sent via DHL to a cigar importing friend & left 200 each with two of my herfing buddies, that I'll collect 100 at a time, when we return for short breaks to visit my wife's friends & family. expecting it to take up to 2yrs until my full collection is re-united. but as the 289 cigars cost £750 to import, I'd rather be patient than pay any further tax.

So the Big Move actually happened on Fri 3rd. Stress, & Brexit paperwork++ but all is well now, just waiting for my wife's Passport to be returned, with her Settled Status Visa. Bit of a worry, reading some people have been waiting 6months. My wife came over on her Belgian I.D. card but they won't be accepted after 23rd Sept so we are trying to get the passport sent to a friend so they can post to the UK.

I will attach so photos of recent smokes later via my phone, apologies if I have actually mentioned any of this already or posted some of the pic's before.
Oh, almost forgot to mention I Sold my 14yo Belgian Skoda & bought a 12yo Jag X Estate, smart enough for the family & with room enough for my fishing gear & surely not attract unwanted attention when parked by the river bank.
A German produced cigar, form German tobacco!Party time!Didn't manage to sell my boat so had to take it to the Marina in the Netherlands & hope he gets a decent price for it.
OCelebrating our Pearl Anniversary, at my fav cafe, smoked some great cigars here.
My last herf at the Antwerp LCDH, smoked a pair of Cohiba's with mine host. I received them at the opening of the Antwerp Cohiba Atmosphere in 10/17 so nicely aged now. I had the Sig VI & gave the Robusto to Reza. My Sig VI was fantastic & made me kick myself for buying half a dozen for McDee on our last visit to Havana & not buying the same for myself (I blame the MLW watching my every move, she barely believed I was buying for Neil!).Bart turned up to pick up a box of SLR ER Havana's that I sold him & we smoked a pair of QdO 50's from the shop. After spending all afternoon in there & drinking Club Havana 7yo rum & coffee, Reza waved any charge & gave me a gift of a Monte Robusto EL2006! A wonderful way to say farewell here but I'll be popping back on future visits. At least it's somewhere to smoke in the city, when it's raining.I had 101 cigars with me, crossing to Dover, nothing for it but to smoke one as I left my old life behind. A good Divi' & coffee.
My first smoke in the UK as a UK resident for 31yrs! I chose my first Siglo Medida, whilst being serenaded by the Royal Marines Band (how did they know I'd be there?) The first half was very good, second half still needing aging. I'll be keping my other two for a few yrs yet, tubes slow maturation after all. We took a day off, whilst the removers were unloading our household goods into a storage unit, we went up to the City, for luncheon at the Aqua Shard. Great views from the 32 floor, seeing the Belfast from a new angle.Sharing a pair of 2010 Sig IV's from Tippex's collection. Then got stuck 2 days in ABZ waiting for the Scotch mist to clear. Back on the rig now & 'normal' life resumes.

Welcome back! Seems like it went as smooth as you could hope in the end. Going on holiday at the moment is confusing enough so moving must have been a logistical nightmare.

Hope you got a nice spot in the new house to store everything you’ve managed to bring back 👍🏼

Logistics were a nightmare indeed but despite all our worries everything, except the Visa has fallen into place. Hoping the Visa issue is resolved asap so my wife can stop worrying.

Hi Al, thanks, I have a month off starting next Thurs. Couple of important dates in the diary, inc the start of the Pike Fishing Season on the Avon 1st Oct. But I'll be in touch & sure we can make it happen.
