  • Bolivar: King of Smoke

So I never smoked much Bolivar - prefering to stick first to RyJ then to Partys, but in the last 3 weeks or so I've been cycling in some robustos and today a tubo no.2 .

WOW soo much lovely smoke. Able to blow the best smoke rings ever. And i know not all like the flavor of Bolivar, but for me its my current favorite - lovely full and goes excellent with mexican coffee.

    WIN!

The Royal Corona is probably my favourite cigar. They don't seem to need much age to taste good either.

Got to agree with that. The RC is fast moving up my list.

I suspect a box of the RC is in my future. Any real difference between the tubo and normal?

Well. Popular opinion says the tubo is superior but I've not tried it to comment. I will say that my 'naked' ones are amazing though.

I think you need Alex for this one Bop. He can write a Holy Script on why you should go with the TUBOS and leave the rest on the sub's bench!

Bolivar has a special place in my heart (and amongst my tastebuds too). Wonderful cigars, especially the RC - great flavour profile and strong, but rarely harsh. I stick towards the larger end of their range, often finding offerings such as the No3 just a little rough around the edges (great if you want that though).

                    Long live the King!

Been offsite for 3/52, looks like I just droppe dback in at the right mo. MRN statessin his book that if he had to chose one brand of Havnas for his collection, he would chose Bolivars. Firstly for their flavour secondly becasue they all age so well. Strangely, I wouldn't say the RC is a fav of mine, bit milder in flav, perhaps it's the delivery. Well aged CG's take some beating, for a quicker smoke Cab BBF, with 5yrs+ ageYum! To match a try the J.C., which I prefer to the now deleted but still available Bonita. For something different try the German LE Especials a long thin panatela or for a more celibratory affair the stupendous German LE 5th Ave 109.

lol, just catching up with this thread!!!!

cheers arf, yes, the boli RC tubos is an absolute favourite of mine (actually, i seem to be buying more bolivars than partagas nowadays)!!! compared to the regular boxed RC's (of which i've had a few singles), the tubos just seem to be better all round!!!! every one i've had (and i've had plenty in the last few months) have been FANTASTIC!!! fantastic looking (90% of what i've had have lovely dark wrappers and have been blemish free, no rough looks or veins etc), fantastic smelling (when you pop the tube, the aroma just ATTACKS you), and fantastic smoking........ maybe it's the age old question of storage!!! i don't know........ all i can say is the tick my box everytime!!!

now, those german RE's sound fantastic!!!! again, i'd love to try a couple of singles since i can't afford a box right now......

                          all the best,

                          alex

                            RC and Simones.

Not a great fan of Bolivars at all, but the RC is a great smoke, and the Simones are fantastic cigars when you can get them.
