  • Back in the hobby 10 years later - What’s changed?

    Good evening all.

A recent holiday with a few smokes reignited my passion for cigars. It had been ~10 years since I’ve had a single smoke and I have ashamedly not kept perfect humidor maintenance in this time, it’s painful seeing some amazing smokes in there far too solid to smoke. I’m currently trying to save them, any tips there would be lovely.

So. What’s changed in 10 years? I’m expecting the main answer to be prices…

Welcome back. Prices. Availability. Cuba crumbling.

You should have maintained your humidor..... Go check prices with what you remember and let us know...

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Welcome back! I was in the same boat, went about 15 years without one and rekindled the interest early last year. Also had an unloved humidor, but somehow I'd managed to transfer my stuff to a tupperdore & had some dry HF beads in there. Had to slowly increase humidity again & all good again.

As far as prices go, I had been gifted two Partagas Serie D LE's (2003 & 2004) as a wedding present in 2009. They're now going for almost £300ea apparently. Not that I'd actually sell them, just waiting for the perfect time to sacrifice them

Welcome back to the fold! Prices & availability are the two main differences. And N.C.'s have gone up too.

          Cheers guys appreciate the responses.

id definitely say it seems Cuban availability is down? But NC seems way up? Havana House took over my local tobacconist in the meantime so nice to have a closer interesting option than London.

I wish I could remember prices but my emails from that era have mostly been purged. It kind of feels like at least double seems about the mark? Im sure I remember buying a Siglo IV in the £40 range when I was last in J J Fox probably 12 years ago 😂.

I’ve also gone down the Tupperdore route to after reading some other comments to try and bring my babies back to perfect health. The Bolivar Gold Medal looking at me like a disappointment father right now
