After contacing the seller and spending a day painstakingly comparing to other JL2s that I own, I am failrly convinced that these are genuine at this point.

When I get round to smoking one I will report back if I get a nasty surprise.

Good, glad to know it is working out. I think the label falling off en route to the vendor is the what is most likely to have happened to be honest. It is something the quality control cannot miss, however what stokes me is the fact your vendor didn't spot it and send another box instead. I am not accusing them at all but just confuses me slightly.

Maybe the vendor knowing his source to be good didn't even think about it! with, as has been said, quality control issues, maybe a label is low on his priorities
