  • Thoughts on Lanceros, Fundadores, Especial.....

Having smoked a number of these from various vintages (1998 - present), I have to say the Palma Larga/laguito no.1/long panatella is fast becoming my favorite vitola.

maximum flavour delivery; I put this down to careful construction and the use of proportionally more of the "better" leaves. A focussed, controlled, elegant, classic experience.

Just about every Lancero, Fundadores or Monte Especial I've had has been a step above most of the larger ring guage cigars I've had.

Interesting to hear others' thoughts and experiences with these...
"By the cigars they smoke, and the composers they love, ye shall know the texture of men's souls." John Galsworthy
"A good Cuban cigar closes the door to the vulgarities of the world." Franz Liszt
"The most futile and disastrous day seems well spent when it is reviewed through the blue, fragrant smoke of a Havana Cigar." Evelyn Waugh
"Remember, commander, no cigars before launch." a Cuban doctor's orders to an astronaut at Cape Canaveral

I, too, like the lancero for all the reasons you've mentioned.

I am a fan also, don't have enough any in the humi for now, but this is my next vitola on my list

The aged/old band cohibas and trinis can be utterly magnificent!

Add me to the list of fans of these slimmer gauge cigars. Lovely concentration of flavour, and there's something very sophisticated about both the look and flavour development. I'm one of the many (it seems) who wants to see a slimmer gauge RE... our frequent cries of anguish seem to go regularly unheeded...

Ive been really liking the long thin smokes for a while now. Trini Fundadores and ERDM Espanas are favorites.

Seven posts for ERDM Grandee de Espanas to get mentioned, a truely underated Laguito No1 IMHO, but then I love 'em all. Older Fundi's seem better than more recent vintages, Monte No 1 very consistant & a distinct change from a No2.

Love this vitola. there seems to be subtlety, complexity and balance that cannot be achieved with the thicker gauges. Need a little patience with the older sticks though.

I have some of these sat in my humi, mainly as special treats rather than everyday smokes. I love the Cohiba Corona Especiale, Trinidad Fundadores (One gold band Fundadores is sat in my humi thanks to a tipoff from Nic Wing on the Cigar Tour), along with a Cuban Davidoff Laguito No1 which was kindly gifted to me, though I keep preventing myself from smoking it due to knowing how old and expensive it is.

Over the last year I have really got into these sizes and tried a few. Before that I was a real robusto fan but these have taken over. I have a box of fundis sitting in the humi and love the hoyo du dauphin but haven't got round to purchasing them yet. I know I should as they are out of production and I really enjoyed the smooth flavours.
