Just in the process of setting up my first Humi and my thoughts are turning too buying my first box of cigars. Once delivered do you put them straight into the Humi? I was thinking of keeping the cigar box to use as a "dry" box in case of over humidification. New to this so unsure if that is the correct way or not

Cigar Box or Humi

It depends on the size of your humidor I suppose. If it's a large humidor, or a walk in humidified room, fill it with boxes, however if it's a 25/50/100 count type desk top humi (which I imagine is more likely, and more sensible if you're buying your first box) the cigars will need to come out of the box because I doubt the box will fit in. Just check the inside of the humi is Spanish Cedar (or similar) and properly prepared (you'll find loads of posts on setting up your humi) and you'll be laughing. Don't be popping your cigars straight in the brand new humi, let it settle humidity wise for a week or two. The trick is keeping a eye on the humi so that you don't over humidify/dry your cigars. I wouldn't buy your cigars till the humi is "settled"... and then pop them in and keep an eye like a hawk on it for a week or two.
I'd keep the cigar box... however I'd use it for keeping non consecutive unmarked notes, loose change of varying denominations, a pen knife, casino chips, chess pieces, love letters, amunition or small fire arms in... or more sensibly make a cigar box ukulele.

After the humidor has settled and held a constant humidity for a week or so I'd allow the cigars in there, as for the box why not use it for your cigar paraphernalia? I keep my matches and cutter in there myself.FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS SMOKE NC'S!

Whats the date on the Trinis if they are young you might want to leave them in the humi for a few months[sounds like torture] ideally you want to build up a rolling stock so the ones you smoke have been well rested and with a bit of age on them.
