  • Smoking to die out by 2050? Except in Germany!

Took this from Yahoo news site this evening, looks like the youngsters on here might be taking their hols in Germany when they retire. No explantion why they think it will last so long in Germany when they have similar % of smokers to us now.

The year smoking will die out around the world: table
British American Tobacco is to buy the second largest cigarette company in Colombia for $452m (?277.7m).
Here, we list the date smoking will die out in 18 different countries from the UK to New Zealand.
The table below illustrates the year the trend hits zero in each of the following nations:
Country % of the population that smokes Citi's earliest prediction for end of smoking
    Sweden152028
    Australia172030
    Iceland162033

Be easier if I could have copied the link but for some reason it wouldn't copy. Sure the whole article will still be there though. Yes, they are talking about cigarete smoking. One reason for the Germans hangoing on maybe their 8million Turkish population. Other projections are hard to understand. Anyway sure the numbers of cig smokers will continue to drop, a good thing in genreal of course, I am sure most will agree but that will also mean loss of jobs in the industry & farming. And more interestingly as the human race has a history of taking mind altering drungs since time began, what will replace it?
The less cig smokers about of course will mean we will be a very small % of the population & restrictions will be total. Be lucky if you can still smoke in your own home, with the windows closed by then.

It is clear what we need to do - stop calling appreciation of fine cigars 'smoking' ...we need a new word.
