  • Humidor

    Hi,

New to the forum, and new to cigars... tried a few of the bigger cuban names and have found my favourite to be Hoyo de Monterry Petit Coronas. Have quite a basic question was hoping might get help with...

I am going to Dubai soon and was hoping to 'stock up'...and I was hoping I could get some tips on buying a humidor. What should I be looking for? Where should I go to buy it? Do they require constant power (like a fridge)?

Welcome. Humidors are best brought bigger than you think you need. Cgars.co.uk have a great selection. ebay has some great deals. You will need a humidifier to keep the humidity constant, these can be powered or some people just use gel / sponge / beads etc. with distilled water only! Plenty of info on here, just ask away.

I'd say buy a 100 count humidor atleast to start with and use 65% beads to humidify it. Amazon also have some great deals when purchasing, I bought a Venezia Grande from Adorini and am happy with it. The beads don't require power, only spraying with distilled water when they run out every now and then. Either that or you could get yourself a large tuppware box and use the beads in that.

          Thanks for such prompt replies!

I'm thinking the basic 30 cigar model from Anorini at ?87 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Adorini-Humido...item3368eca995
will make a good first purchase...I appreciate the comments about bigger humidors but, Dubai or no Dubai, what with the worldwide recession etc could be a while before I amass more than 30 cigars

Think of it this way. A 300 count is not 6 times the price of a 50, and if you're looking to store, I assume you'll smoke slower than you buy. I'm still on Tupperware several years into the hobby and my sticks are fine.

Hi and welcome to our common plight - humidification and enough of! I bought a 100ct recently with 4 trays and it's a lovely bit of kit and came with digital hygro and beads, all in was €75 Inc postage and that's because of ukcf discount, came from the link deano posted so great deals to be had and I reckon is as solid as adorini, just my 2p worth

                Gents - thanks,

Taken a little bit of what all of you have said on board!

Going to look very impressionable now, because I am changing my preferred model to http://humidoro.de/Humidors/Humidor:...gt20roboq61535
This will hold 50 and is very reasonable. Anyone tried this model before? Let me know if I'm making a terrible mistake!

                Thanks

My only real concern here is the analogue hygro IMO the are only good for show unless a real high quality therefore u would need to budget for a digi
