  • Long Term Storage...

Just a quick one as I'm on my way oot!

A few of the chaps have mentioned recently they have a lack of long term storage...
I keep my boxes in my loft, the loft is insulated at roof level for obvious reasons & I maintain low 50 - 55% specific humidity using a domestic humidifier & commercial panel heaters take care of fluctuating temps... very cheap to buy & works a treat...
Luckily enough my loft access is a half height door off the spare bedroom so is fairly easy access....but! if needs must

What sort of temps are you hitting in the summer up there?

Have you ever hit any major problems up there? My main concern would be with rodents or birds maybe one day getting in and running havoc! How often are you up there to check everything is running smoothly puff?

I have a combination of mice, wasps, sparrows and searing summer heat in my loft - no way are my cigars going up there!!

Methinks you all missed the "insulated at roof level"...not just ceiling level as per norm, summer highs are no worse to control than winter lows....birds only get under the tiles, not into the membrane & mice have to get passed feline sentries, wasps on the other hand have never been a problem...
Thinking outside the box chaps; is your loft a waste of space?

Sounds like the next best thing to a walk-in there Puff. My loft is still full of all the junk we couldn't be bothered to sort through when we moved, guess I'll have to stick to tupperware for now.

Hi Styler, calling it a walk-in would glamourise it way too much - unless your under 4'6".........

That sounds like some sort of super loft, the thing dreams are made of! Every loft ive ever had has always just ended up being a huge pain in the rear, more trouble than its worth..

This has got me thinking though about a possible future loft conversion...what a great little smoking den that space could become!

Put us a pic up Puff! Is your roof level insulation covered eg your floor level is fibre glass which is boarded over, is it similar on your roof joists with heaters attached to the boarding?
