i think they were machine made but now they've switched to hand rolling..... kinda like JLPs
The RG were never machine made. They are a smaller premium brand like Quai d'orsay. Some real nice discontinued ones in there range that can still be found and are stellar(so is there regular production stuff). You may be think of the panatellas which are like the JLP as they are short filler, but that is the only cigar in there range that is short filler. If thats makes them not worth too much you might as well stick Por Larra?aga in the same bracket as they have a short filler panatela in there range as well

yupp, i just googled up their history. i used to always bracket RG and JLP together because of their size and value-cost ratio. but after a little digging, found out that some oldies are pretty goodie.
i also never knew Habanos even dealt with short filler in their cigars...that's kinda strange really..... guess they can due to the small ring gauges, eh?

        serves me right.

Not just small ring gauges, have a look at quintero favouritos robusto-ish size. JLP in spain come in at a euro each uber cheap. Young I actually real like the JLP petit cadzories

Now quintero are like JLP all short filler. But they used to have long filler hand made that are now discontinued

jlp petit cazadores i've got like 20 from 06 sstill left. i think another 2 years and i'll really enjoy them.
06 was when they were still machine made, so i know about jlp stories.

i've never actually had a quintero and i've only seen one in real life last month when i visited cuba. the favouritos you were talking about, yupp. and i'm surprised they're short filler. i guess cuba can relaly make them that good eh?? how are they (young or aged)

just being pedantic but cuba stopped the machine thing for most brands in 2002 and the petit cazadores were not released until a few years after that.

I find the favouritos a really nice smoke for the price point (they are not epi 2/ juan lopez 2) price so as long as you go in with that in mind they are a nice smoke. I am quite partial to the quintero panatelas and these really do age quite well and I have a few boxes for long term (rude not at the price)but the one I opened at 4 year old really went down a treat.

Quintero Favoritos are sold off the counter in Spain like cigarettes and the ones I tried were a bit harsh and fast burning. Might be worth giving them a spell in the humidifier.

Nope. Never pedantic when educating Sides, whatre forums for?
Just rechecked. My mistake. They're regular cazadores. And boy are they falling apart! aye: handmade, short filler, came in cellophane bundle until 07 until their discontinuation, and were machine made until '02.
That's strange though. Maybe it's when demand dropped after the cigar boom so Cuba could spend the man power?

And you're right about the ageing potential of cheap sticks. But I'm the exact opposite. Got a philosophy that cigars cost money. But so does humidor space :O

Hmmm. Only things we have here are villagers and century sams..... Ew. Nice to seee some love and demand for Cuba there

And I wonder how long itd be good for..... may just last a few months before they're all bombed away to friends who don't smoke as much.
Better red pill than a Guantanamera, eh?
