My first cigar in over two weeks. I'm afraid it's not to my liking. Too spicy. My mouth was burning constantly. There were some nice flavours in there, but they were overpowered by pepper notes that left me feel like I had a very spicy curry. Maybe it's too fresh? Not sure. I am sure though, if it was a NC, many would say it's the typical pepper notes that are the reasons they mostly smoke cubans.

Maybe the second one will be better.

Having the second one right now. A completely different story. I think it was not the right stick for getting back into it, but I hugely enjoy it now. Small strong and bold. Looking forward to seeing how it keeps developing

I thoroughly enjoyed mine, despite being so strong. I had the second one in the evening with a whiskey, which helped with the spiciness of the cigar. I have to say, I liked it not because of the spice notes, but despite it. Underneath all the pepper and chili notes, was some great flavour of high complexity. Would I buy a box of them? Probably not, the format is not for me, I prefer larger ring gauges and if it has to be a short smoke like this, a robusto would always be my choice. The strength and spiciness require some delicate handling and choice of time and day, which makes it a lot of effort. A good choice for COTM in winter though and a cigar I would not have tried otherwise. As to what it is, I have no clue as I never dabble in these vitolas by myself. That's why COTM is so enjoyable, I get to smoke cigars I otherwise wouldn't.

So chaps, apologies for slight late reveal bit I've been busy prepping for my Xmas market. Just finished day 2...anyway, drum roll......

November's COTM was a Por Larranaga Petit Corona from April 2016. It was interesting to read your takes on it, especially the mentions of salt/sweet notes as these are typically known for sweeter caramel tones, even when they have ugly wrappers!

              Thanks for taking part.

Nice one HB! Good call. I'm not surprised I liked it. But maybe should have recognised it [emoji82]
