Indeed it does Banos. You reminded me that I was going to explain why I liked setting Competitions & giving a wee prize. When I joined the original Club Havana internet site, Were several of of longer serving members belonged before joining this illustrious forum (inc Robustoclubhanava & MoonDancer), within a a few weeks, they had a herf in London, open to all so I nipped up to Town & met this bunch of characters; who's enthusiasm for cigars smoking was something I'd never been able to share with like minded souls before. It was an amazing day, meeting at Davidoff's & taking lunch at the Blue Posts & then smoking (inside!) all afternoon. A week later I entered my first competition & won. To my surprise two wonderful cigars later arrived for my smoking pleasure. They were gifted by the legend that is SeriesSteve & I have to say, as others recently remarked on another thread, I was somewhat stunned by this generosity.Originally posted by ha_banos View PostGreat comp. So as time progressed & I was allowed into the 'Inner Sanctum' (like getting PM's on here), I set a few comp's myself & was able to spread a little joy myself. The one thing about swapping or gifting a few cigars is that you get to try cigars that you would never risk or could afford to buy a whole box of yourself, or maybe you dismissed them when you saw it in the B&M shop but now someone has gifted it to you, you give it ago. Maybe you enjoy it & maybe you don't but you give it an honest right up & low & behold, some else you have never met sends you another, just so you might review it.
In this crazy small world you get out what you put in, as of course is so true in this life. I would just encourage our newer members to work towards being awarded PM's not to save big bucks but to broaden your tastes & experiences & to occasionally meet up with some rather interesting, well read & travelled chaps.

Ha, ha, well the internet is perfect for minority interest groups to get in touch & keep together & perhaps cigar groups benefit more than many other such groups, that are still actually legal. And those of us who belong to other groups might agree, this is indeed the most civilised group we know?Originally posted by geoffbot View PostAh the Internet. The last bastion of decency and kindness, eh?! Love it.

[QUOTE=Simon Bolivar;431832]I definitely don't have a best before date with cigars. Petit Robusto is not a size I smoke so grateful for the opportunity to try some sticks I would hot normally cross paths with. Only ever had fresh coloniales so will be interesting to try a nice aged example.Originally posted by potpest View Post

I thought all Cubans you have should be at least 18yrs old, Simon. [emoji23]

but in case you were referring to cigars, don't forget I was giving these away, not from my 'ready to smoke stock!'
