Don't know what it is, its part of British culture. A 3 1/2 mile horse race, with 40 runners over some of the biggest jumps a horse will see, 30 fences, 2 laps and anything could win. My Dad actually put a bet on Foinavon in the sixties cos he got it in a sweepstake and it won at 100/1. He won some canny wonger that day.

I think for non-UK BOTL we should point out that this is a bit of a survival race and that most of the runners fail to finish.

If people are in agreement i'll close the gates on this when we have 20 people (currently 18 in), total of 40 horses will mean 2 nags per person and the stake will be 2 cigars per person so winner should receive 38 cigars. i 'll take the last 2 horses out of the bag after i've drawn everyone else.

Any objections to this revised format?

Right , to spread the stogie love, i'll still runs this but will not be entered.. So we still have 3 places remaining, 2 cigar entry gets 2 nags, you must post the cigars to the winner after the race has run. Winner takes all so should be a fine haul of 38 cigars.
