  • Simon Bolivar's 2021 New Year Competition

So just been inspired by Alex''s comment on my Top cigars of 2020 post to run the first Comp' of 2021. I have over the last 24yrs of smoking Havana's, tried to sample as many different vitola's as possible, it became a goal to try all the vitola's of the regular Habanos lines. Well I have more or less achieved that, except for a couple of the minor brands that I just don't enjoy at all.

However, as I went along, Habanos started to produce now & more new vitolas. A few to become new regular production (like the Hoyo PR) but others one offs, EL & ER. The list these days is endless.

So like the how many bands in a jar type comp this one is easy, how many different vitola's have I smoked until today 19th Jan?

To give you a ball park figure to shoot at, it's between 300 & 500.

The nearest to the target will get a special gift, to be posted 10th Feb from Aberdeen. To make it fair I will pm Deano with the number so it can't change to favour anyone.

Full disclosure: I have counted a few twice, e.g. those that appear in the Seleccion boxes of Piramides & robustos, anniversay X. I do make a separate entry for clearly different smokes, i.e. a 1960's PC is going to be totally different to a modern fresh example but I have removed those from the count. I also haven't counted Clear Havana's x 6, CC's x20.

Good luck, as a simple Comp it would be great to see all members with PM 's having one guess at least.

Only one guess a day allowed but you can try every day until someone guesses it or the 8th Feb 23:59 so I can get your address in time to post. Good Luck!

Good point Alex, I'll make a not of those within 15pts so I don't have to trawl through 20 pages! Hadn't thought of that.

Now knowing you, you will try to steer us off the trail by proposing a high number like 500.
So I clearly cannot choose near 500.
But Habanos production line back in 2005 was around 300 vitolas!
But you will have assumed we'd look it up, so you included that in your range to throw us off!

And we know there have been a good number of new vitolas since then!
But a lot have also been cancelled!

Didn't realise I was so transparent or do you just know me too well?
