The middle third was smooth, still a bit of spice on the retro.
Final third was mainly toasted tobacco, very similar to Quintero IMO. Not a bad thing as I enjoy the petit Quintero but a big shift from the opening.

Smoke time was an hour 20 minutes, nice easy smoke. Thanks for hosting.

I'm going for an Arturo Fuente Natural Curly Head

So.... Hoping most are smoked, the cigar was a bit of a weird one.

It was a 2009 pre release blend from Emilio Cigars for the original AF2 (this was by AJ Fernandez).

            Wrapper was Ecuadorian Habano Oscurio
            Binder was Nicaraguan
            Filler was Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian.

Emilio AF1+2 has since been reblended by James Brown (no, not that one) of BWS/BLTC at the Oveja Negra factory.

Just been having a read on the history of the AF 2. Definitely an interesting choice and nice to have the opportunity to smoke a pre release blend, especially with some decent aging.
Suprised how much pepper it still had in the first third, settled down nicely after the start but suspect these were pretty spicy when fresh.

This peppery and aging comment reminds me of a VR Familiar from 1999 I had in JJs a few years ago. It was very very peppery/spicy. Should smoke very slow the guy said it was typical of that cigar. Not smoked any since to compare.
                  .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Could well have been smoking it too fast, I was smoking this while bbqing so maybe not paying enough attention to it. Glad I still have 1 more.

Just smoking mine and a very interesting cigar. Excellent construction and in a brilliant format. I’m increasingly struck by the flavours in NC cigars- a real vanilla note I don’t get in Cubans. Also still plenty of oomph in this even with its age. Thanks Alex...this is such a brilliant forum that provides opportunities to try cigars I would never even be aware of.
