    Trinidad Coloniales [2008]

    Origin: Cuba Manufactured: Hand Made
    Gauge: Medium Length: 130
    Format: Colonial Ring: 44

My camera is currently broken, so I have included these from google, as they are very similiar to my experience.

    Extremely well rolled.
The Wrapper is very light brown, almost sandy with a light sheen.
It lit well, but early on had a slighlty uneven burn, which im putting down to it being slightly windy at the moment. It soon became a faultless burn.
The draw was quite tight with a medium amount of smoke, that then loosens off as time passes, giving in turn, more thicker whiter smoke.
It is a very light smoke, I have seen it classed as light to medium, I would definatley say its closer to light.
The ash is dense and crisp.

The flavours are very suprising, extremely complex, all very subtle but there are a multitude. It is very floral and quite sweet. With undertones of almost artificial tastes [but in a good way]. There are so many flavours its hard to pick individual examples out, but I would say there was a definate alcholic taste, like vodka, very clean and tasty.
Towards the end, they become more clear and also are accompanied buy a taste of nuts, most like almonds.

It may sound strange but if I had to say if it had a gender, I would without a doubt say it was female, I say this because, I often think some of the stronger cigars like bolivars etc, seem very masculine.

I always have a drink to accompany my cigars, but I hadn't decided what I would have, so I thought I would let it choose for me, and in the end I paired it with a cup of Roiboos tea [i think most of you wont of heard of this, as I hadnt before I started to drink, so to catergorise it, its quite sweet and light, much like its cigar counterpart.]

It seems like a perfect summer smoke, as its light and delicate. Its not the type of smoke to have after a heavy meal for a big hit of flavour, as I think it would easily be over powered. It really is very subtle, but not at all simple.

Overall, it was a very suprising smoke, as said previously, very complex. I had heard that it was a 'Great smoke with subtleness and complexity for real connoseurs' and this sums it up perfectly.

Finally, I would like to thank fellow cigar lover 'Zigatoh' [Martin] for this rather immpressive stick, as it enter my possention through the 'stick in a stick' cigar pass.

    Appearance (out of 15): 15
Smoking characteristics (out of 25): 24
    Flavour (out of 25): 24
    Overall(out of 35): 33
    Total (out of 100): 96

This is a really great cigar, It was the stick that Edward Sahakian at Davidoff recommended I started smoking when I was getting into Cuban Cigars and I still love them.
I noticed that the H&F snr management in Havana for the festival last year were smoking Trinidad although they told me they had brought them back from the UK as they were EMS.

I am planning for a box of these to smoke them young..

i have had one before, amazingly light and aromatic when I was smoking them, then when i get up from the chair, then i felt its power as i was a bit drunken and then i had a few hours of bad stomach. i smoked it 9am in the morning...great smoke, to me, its a bit like a cohiba sigloIV + HdM PR.

You smoked it at 9am in the morning - and at that time you were a bit drunk?? Nice

Glad you liked it Josh, I definitely get the floral and sweet, and the almonds, when young they even have a honey taste though this may go a bit with age, need to retry them really

Really fell in love with these smoking after a wedding, lovely meal, few drinks, perfect garden area to sit in/wander and no wind, had three that night! Great one to share as well, nothing challenging for a newbie and lots of complexity for your seasoned smokers.

Funny you should mention the ash too, it is very crisp on these isn't it!

              Great review

Totally agree with all the comments on this superb stick, I love nearly all the Trinidad range, only the Short Robusto LE that didn't rock my boat.

                  Once again, very nice review.
I cant explain why but apart from the odd Reyes, I have never really fallen in love with any of the Trinidad cigars. Have tried many times but...Ah well.

                    Thanks for the comments.
The complexity of it really did take me by suprise.
I will be interested to see how, or if the other one I have does develope anymore through aging.

                      Nice review MMDJ.

I smoked my first one of these just last weekend and was VERY impressed indeed. There is certainly a lot going on in one of these - subtle but delicious!

I can't see these in 12 boxes anywhere which is a bit of a shame, as a 24 box is a bit pricey for me right now.

I'm a big fan of the Reyes and the Robusto T but never tried these. Going to have to get my hands on a couple soon though as they sound right up my street

I'll have to try the robusto at some point, as im interested to see what change the larger gauge brings.
